Obama Abuses the Resolute Desk...Repeatedly.

The video below demonstrates what is considered by many people in America (those who were taught manners) to be unacceptable behavior by children or adults, much less by the President of the United States. The video includes picture after picture of President Obama with his feet - or his butt - on an historically significant piece of furniture inside the White House, the "Resolute Desk."

The name "Resolute" has great historical significance to this country as it was a gift from...well, WhiteHouseMuseum.org explains it much more clearly than I would be able:

It was made from the timbers of HMS Resolute, an abandoned British ship discovered by an American vessel and returned to the Queen of England as a token of friendship and goodwill. When the ship was retired, Queen Victoria commissioned the desk from William Evenden, Royal Naval Dockyard at Chatham, England, and presented to President Rutherford Hayes in 1880.

Since the time Queen Victoria presented this gift to the United States of America not all Presidents have used it. It has been in more than one room in the White House and has served as a "desk" (because that's what it is; it's not a foot-rest) in other rooms in the White House. The Desk hasn't always resided in the Oval Office.

I'd be willing to bet a fair amount that there has not been a time in its 131-year existence that the Resolute Desk has been as abused, as it is currently being abused by President Obama (depending on whether Clinton was "using" it at the time of his extra-marital affair with Monica Lewinsky).

You can read the entire 5-paragraph article from WhiteHouseMuseum.org about the Resolute Desk, plus see several pictures that show how it has been in use in the White House over the years during several different presidencies, HERE.

After reading the information about the Resolute Desk, please watch the video:

I know children, small children, who have better manners than this president. This may not seem like such a big deal to some, but to those of us who were taught by our parents to "keep your feet off the furniture," it IS a big deal. Honestly, it makes me wonder what is wrong with Obama. Who failed to teach him the basics of existing in a polite society? I pity him.

I also wonder why, throughout his adult life, he has not been able to learn for himself this basic, decent behavior. Has he not associated with any other adults who know how to behave properly in society? Why has none of the behavior of any other adults with whom he has associated rubbed-off on him? Or has he only associated with boorish brutes throughout his life? Why can he not figure out that putting his feet on a museum piece that he doesn't own is an affront to the civilized and properly-behaved people to whom it was a gift?

President Obama is not the first President, nor will he likely be the last, to put his feet on the desk. I think it must be a requirement of the office as many presidents have had "that picture" taken of themselves with their feet on the desk. One picture, I can let go....TEN, I have a problem with.

There have been times when I have put my feet on MY furniture. My furniture belongs to me and none of my furniture comes close to being "museum-quality." I, however, wouldn't dream of putting my feet on someone else's furniture, no matter its quality. That's what I was taught. That's what I respect. The thought of someone, especially a president, not knowing this staple of respect for other people's belongings is mind-boggling to me. I'm actually quite happy that I am incapable of understanding the mindset of one who fails to respect the property of others.

There is a theory that President Obama has no respect for the British, which may explain why he abuses the Resolute Desk. After all, he sent back the bronze bust of Winston Churchill that British Prime Minister Tony Blair "loaned" to the United States as a token of solidarity and support from one of our oldest allies after the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. Perhaps this explains why:

Churchill has less happy connotations for Mr Obama than those American politicians who celebrate his wartime leadership. It was during Churchill's second premiership that Britain suppressed Kenya's Mau Mau rebellion. Among Kenyans allegedly tortured by the colonial regime included one Hussein Onyango Obama, the President's grandfather.

Author and scholar Dinesh D'Souza explored "The Roots of Obama's Rage" in a book by that name which was released late last year.  At the time of the release of that book, Dinesh was a guest on Glenn Beck's radio program.  You can view that entire interview below.  Dinesh goes into quite a bit of detail about why he believes Obama is anti-British.

Provided these theories about Obama's obvious contempt for the British are true, it provides some insight as to why he abuses the Resolute Desk in the manner he does. However, the theories do not provide a reason why the current President of the United States, Barack Obama, behaves like a pig.
